THE IMPACT OF ACUTE TONSILLITIS ETIOLOGY ON TEMPORARY WORK INCAPACITY IN YOUNG ADULTS

Introduction.
Acute tonsillitis is a common infectious disease that primarily affects young people and can significantly impact work capacity. The duration of illness is a key factor determining recovery speed and social consequences.
The amin of the research
Establish the relationship between the etiology of acute tonsillitis and the duration of temporary incapacity for work in young employees.
Materials and methods of the research.
The study was conducted using bacteriological methods. Inclusion criteria were sore throat, fever, sneezing, and runny nose. Diagnosis was made according to a unified clinical protocol. Throat swabs were analyzed using standard microbiological techniques.
Results.
A total of 122 microbial strains from 10 bacterial genera and 1 yeast genus were identified. Gram-negative bacteria (60%) predominated over gram-positive bacteria (40%). The most common were α-hemolytic Streptococcus spp. (33%), Neisseria spp. (16.39%), and Corynebacterium spp. (14.01%). β-hemolytic Streptococcus group A was detected in 4% of cases, Staphylococcus aureus in 14.01%. In most patients, microorganisms persisted as microbial associations, which could complicate the disease course. The analysis of disease duration showed that 65.4% of patients had sick leave for up to 5 days, while 34.6% had sick leave for 6–9 days.
Conclusions.
The results highlight the need for a comprehensive approach to diagnosis and treatment. Considering microbial associations and conducting bacteriological examination before prescribing therapy can contribute to a more effective treatment strategy and reduce the risk of prolonged tonsillitis.
