Since 1972, the Institute of Occupational Medicine of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine has been developing the novelty safety systems to prevent industrial accidents caused by the human factor. The scientific and technical problem of individual psychophysiological monitoring of current professional reliability and optimization of the actual mental performance of operators and dispatchers while operating large technical facilities, vehicles, etc. was resolved.
This direction was initiated by research with the development of fundamentally new diagnostic approaches to the systematic analysis of the current psychophysiological state of a person based on the oscillatory structure of physiological indicators.
In the informational sense, a simple regulatory system is considered as a separate oscillatory circuit (oscillator) and is characterized by the values of the oscillations of the parameter it regulates. Similarly, a complex regulatory hierarchy of a living organism can be viewed as a multilayer hierarchy of interconnected regulators (oscillators) and analyzed as a spectrum of their synchronous oscillations.
This spectrum is the product of the simultaneous regulatory action of all body systems involved in the current activity. This makes it possible to non-invasively observe the activity of individual regulatory systems of the body in the process of functioning, and, most importantly,
allows the spectrum of some physiological functions to be used as a source of empirical information for statistical models of their connection with the results of the body's activity - that is, with the system-forming factors of functional systems of a particular activity.
With the development of self-learning systems, especially artificial intelligence systems, the creation of such empirical statistical models becomes possible for a wide range of operator-type professions, as well as for many other applied tasks of dynamic non-invasive analysis of the human body.
Over the past 40 years, several generations of computer systems for monitoring current professional reliability and optimizing the mental performance of operators in the electric power industry have been created. For their implementation, a sectoral legislative framework was developed and implemented in the Ukrainian power industry in 1987–2007.
Key words: psychophysiology, current professional reliability, self-learning computer systems for monitoring current professional reliability, regulatory system of the body as a hierarchy of oscillators, P. K. Anokhin's theory of functional systems, prevention of industrial accidents, heart rate long wave oscillations, fluctuations in professional reliability of nuclear power plant room operators from day to day
