Volodymyr Ivanovych Cherniuk (May 15, 1938 – December 30, 2020) is a well-known Ukrainian hygienist, talented scientist and organizer of science in the field of occupational health. His name is known in the central bodies of the executive power of Ukraine and on the world scientific arena. V. I. Cherniuk took an active life position in defending the interests and protecting the health of workers in Ukraine. Thanks to his persistent efforts, for the first time in the history, the State Institution "Kundiiev Institute of Occupational Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine" became a member of the International Commission on Occupational Health (2020). Unrelenting devotion to science and the noble cause of protecting the health of workers, an eternal desire for the truth – his vital, creative and professional credo, with which he passed his bright earthly life. His scientific and social work continues its life in the daily work of his numerous followers – students and colleagues –who had the privilege of working next to this person, knowing him, learning from him, and for many more years will serve the development of the traditions of the Ukrainian school of hygienists for the sake of maintenance of the occupational health of the working human.
