Introduction. Folic acid intake can reduce homocysteine levels by a quarter, which leads to a decrease in the risk of cardiovascular disease. There are several different mechanisms of homocysteine pathogenesis and vascular disease.
The aim of the research – to investigate the effect of Thorne Research B-Complex No. 6 vitamin complex on homocysteine and folic acid levels in military personnel.
Materials and methods of the research. We administered the supplements to 25 patients, with the other 25 being the control group. Laboratory tests were conducted prior to and 2 months after taking the drugs. Laboratory diagnostics were used to analyze the drug's effect on the levels of homocysteine and folic acid.
Results. The use of Thorne Research B-Complex No. 6 resulted in a significant decrease in homocysteine levels (p < 0.01; p < 0.05).
Conclusion. Thorne Research B-Complex No. 6 effectively reduces homocysteine levels and significantly increases folic acid levels.
